Privacy notice
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This notice explains which personal data is processed when you visit AlpineDealz, a price comparison website for Switzerland. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP, in force since 1 September 2023). Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to visitors from the EU/EEA, the notes on the GDPR below apply as well.
1. Who is responsible
The controller is the operator of AlpineDealz, Switzerland. Contact for data protection questions: contact@alpinedealz.ch.
2. In short
- AlpineDealz is a static website. There are no user accounts, no forms, no newsletter and no comment functions.
- AlpineDealz does not set cookies and does not use advertising or tracking tools. It uses only Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless tool that counts visits in aggregated form (see section 3).
- Your language choice is stored only in your own browser.
- Technical access data is processed by the hosting provider, and product images are loaded directly from retailer servers (see below).
3. Hosting, CDN and server log data (Cloudflare)
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and delivered through the content delivery network (CDN) of Cloudflare, Inc., USA. When you open a page, your browser connects to Cloudflare's servers. Cloudflare processes the technical data needed to deliver the page and to protect the website (for example against attacks and abuse), in particular your IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested page or file, the referring page, your browser and operating system (user agent) and the response status (request logs). The operator of AlpineDealz does not use these logs to identify visitors. Cloudflare determines how long these logs are kept; details are in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Cloudflare Web Analytics. To understand how the website is used, AlpineDealz uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare automatically adds a small script (beacon, loaded from static.cloudflareinsights.com) to the pages. It sets no cookies, uses no local storage and does not identify you by fingerprinting. It counts page views and visits and shows the operator only aggregated statistics, such as the referring website, country, device type and browser, as well as page loading times. According to Cloudflare, your IP address is not stored for this purpose and the data is not used for advertising. Details are in Cloudflare's information on Web Analytics.
Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and working website and in understanding its use in aggregated form (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Language setting in your browser
When you choose a language (EN/DE/FR), the choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key bfc.lang so the site opens in that language next time. The value stays on your device, is not sent to the operator and is not a cookie. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings (site data). The language may also appear in the address bar as ?lang=….
5. Product images from retailer servers
Product images are loaded directly from the retailers' servers, currently assets.brack.ch (BRACK.CH), www.fust.ch (Fust), assets.mmsrg.com (MediaMarkt). To display an image, your browser sends a request to these servers, which then receive your IP address and user agent. AlpineDealz instructs your browser not to send the address of the page you came from (no referrer). These retailers are responsible for this processing under their own privacy policies. Apart from the Cloudflare Web Analytics script (section 3), AlpineDealz loads no other third-party resources such as web fonts, maps, videos or social media plugins.
6. Links to retailers and affiliate links
Prices link to the retailers' product pages, and each product links to toppreise.ch for cross-checking. When you click a link, you leave AlpineDealz; the privacy policy of the website you visit then applies, and that website may set its own cookies.
At the moment the links are direct links without affiliate tracking. AlpineDealz may join affiliate programmes (for example via Awin) in the future. Some links may then be affiliate links: after you click, the affiliate network and/or the retailer may set cookies or use similar technologies to attribute a purchase to AlpineDealz, and the operator may earn a commission. This costs you nothing extra. This notice will be updated before such links are used.
7. Disclosure abroad
Cloudflare, Inc. is based in the USA and delivers the site through its global network of servers in many countries. Data processed by Cloudflare can therefore be disclosed abroad (Art. 16 and 17 FADP). According to its privacy policy, Cloudflare is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework). For companies certified under that framework, the Swiss Federal Council has recognised an adequate level of data protection. According to Cloudflare's data processing addendum, standard contractual clauses serve as an additional safeguard. The retailers in section 5 are responsible for their own servers and any transfers abroad.
8. Retention
The operator of AlpineDealz does not store any personal data about visitors. The language setting remains in your browser until you delete it. Cloudflare keeps request logs according to its own policy. If you contact the operator by e-mail, your message will be kept only as long as necessary to deal with your request, unless the law requires longer retention.
9. Your rights
Under the FADP you have the right to request information about your personal data and to have incorrect data corrected. You can also request deletion and object to processing. Where the GDPR applies, you also have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. To exercise your rights, please write to contact@alpinedealz.ch. Because AlpineDealz itself holds almost no visitor data, requests about server logs may need to be passed on to Cloudflare.
You may lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), www.edoeb.admin.ch. Visitors from the EU/EEA may also contact the data protection authority in their country.
10. Changes
This notice may be updated, for example when the website or the services it uses change. The current version is always published on this page, together with its date.
